Unless you know all the facts in a dispute you can not seriously make a comment one way or the other without taking sides.

Alan may well have to remind people of his achievements as he has the awful job of trying to get sponsorship for his adventures and this is no easy task. If people don’t know who you are and what you have done then it is very difficult / near impossible to get the funding .

Who gives a toss about Soltron?, well CAT and YAMAHA for starters, the crew on each boat and the people who take their fuel quality seriously, that’s who.

As for your point that its very ‘British’ to knock someone for what they are doing, I think the words …..POT , KETTLE BLACK CALLING THE springs to mind but not in that order!

May be a bit presumptuous to assume that they will cross the Atlantic however, I have seen and met both boats and crews and know somewhat of their plans other than what is revealed normally and can honestly say that I am sure they will both cross the Atlantic.

I love a bit of banter at its all good fun however, you are saying you dislike something that someone else is doing but are doing it yourself and giving a poor excuse for doing so. If Alan has the Tshirt then let him wear it!

I think you are slightly blinkered by your own personal feelings towards Alan Priddy. And by the look of it Alan has got serious sponsorship so he must be doing something right so that doesn’t go hand in hand with what you are saying.

As for me I wish both crews the best of luck and hope that they both achieve their ambitions.

I suspect that this will be your last expedition as unless you win the lottery, no sponsor will ever touch you again. Your attitude stinks!!!! Get a life and stop letting your jealousy overwhelm everything you say and do.

I imagine Bear Grylls wishes he had never mentioned you at all!

My friend you need to take a chill pill and wind your neck back in. If you are involved with Bear and crew then hopefully they have installed a play pen on their ‘open’ boat for you.

Otherwise I hope you wish both teams good luck in the expeditions. Whatever the definition of an open boat is this trip will be exhausting and require large amounts of adrenalin to complete.

Alan does have an interesting point about the console at the front although I know his 97 boat had a cover over the tubes which have may had a similar function, but is not as structural as Bears.

Is the person with a big budget a better adventurer compared to the person with a small budget and more determination to overcome ? Either way they are both crazy and deserve our praise and not childish rants.

If Alan and Bear have an issue then pistols at dawn would seem sensible!

You should both have some respect for Alan and Bear, Alan has achieved a hell of a lot over the last 20 years for ribs and when you have done the same then you can talk. Come back when you have something usefull to say.

Julian, as I said in my previous post, I have the deepest respect for alan in respect of his achievements, my problem is with his attitude! as james said, it stinks, I've met Mr Grylls,(outside of the current challenge)and time will tell if he and his team are to succeed, his attitude however, was very modest with respect to his other achievements, and I don't see why Mr Priddy needs to be the way he is.

this thread seems to be going round in circles now, so I will shut up.

I am certainly not linked to Bear Grylls's expedition. I have only met him (and his team) once at the London Boat Show in January.

Fortunately I have not met Alan Priddy at all!

Jon, you are right, this thread is going round in circles but on a parting posting and the last I will say on this matter, I have to say that the one and only reason I am upset about this is that Bear has made false statements not only about me but Steve Lloyd and Dr jan Falkowski which in our opinion is unnessesary.

You have hit the nail on the head when you said that you have met Bear outside of this Challenge.

The problem is that there are very few people on this forum who really know me at all. At the ripe old age of 50 I have done an awful lot of other things that I do not shout about and have no need to.

All Bear had to do is stop telling the press that he is going to be the first when it has already been done twice before.

I wonder if Alister Campell is on his team?

And I can vouch for the 100 people that met Alan last time he was over and they certainly do not think he is a twat!

He has been encouraged by all to come back later this year. They enjoyed his presentation and the fact that he was so approachable afterwards whilst we were enjoying the buffet.

Every time Alan and Clive come to Guernsey I have to find a bigger venue to accomodate the amount of people who want to turn up.

I first spoke to Alan as a total stranger over the phone in 2000 and he has never acted in the manner that some of you portray him in.

As every one has said let it lie, personally I am more interested in the lead up to the events from both sides and I think more positive posting and questions would be more interesting than bitching about people!
