You can build transom up with scuppers so you have a dry deck,

Ah wicked looks great,

May I ask a few questions?

what height was your transom on the centre line from the keel?
Do you ever have trouble with water coming in when coming of the plane?
What mm ply did you use on the deck?

Thankyou

Nice one, I’m going to go with a 24” transom, winged up to the edges with scuppers. I will post up when done [emoji106]

Nugent rebuilt my Pacific 22 years ago and converted to outboard. I’ve got a 25” transom and now running a suzuki 300 and get zero backwash. I only get a flooded deck when going astern to fast or manoeuvring in heavy sea while in reverse

While ive gone this far I may as well build it up. It's never gojgn to be as easy so why not.
@Nugent, have you any pics relating to the fuel tank?

I am getting a custom 316L stainless tank made that will go between the 2 main centre stringers.

Also Did wht type of joint did you do wher ethe plywood meets?

My tanks 1000L - 450W - 400H which gives 180L capacity.

I’ve currently got the whole boat gutted and re doing the transom as theres some substantial movement and stress cracks. Having bought a brand new 300 the last thing i want is that falling off.

While the deck is off i’ve just made a 316 s/s 120L reserve tank which fits where the diesel lump used to live as the 180L main tank simply doesn't give me the range that i require.

Thats 700L - 450W - 380-H

I’ve also made a 316 u section cradle that bolts through the stringers to aid in supporting the engine and transfer the loads up the boat.

If you need any pics drop me a PM,

Dan

I've just butted them up to each other over the top of either a longitudinal or transverse. The outboard two longitudinals are 4' apart.

Hello guys, hello Autolux.

I bought an Arctic 22 last year. It was a 1986 one, equipped with 2 Suzuki DT140 Engines.

Just took the engines off the transom, the aluminium transom is bolted to the deck, somehow between the horizontal part of the transom and the deck there is rotten wood, so I have to take the transom off.

Does anybody know if I can take that transom off without taking the deck off? I tried to take some screws off, but they won't come out...

Best regards
Henning

I would imagine the build order was transom on and then deck on. As a result I suspect that to get the transom off you will need to release the deck. If it is anything like my Pac 22, there is a transverse running on the inside of the transom that the deck attaches to.

I'm not sure what the structural arrangement of the aft end of the Arctic 22 is but you could replace the aft section of deck only.

None of my screws came out either - they all just snapped. In the end I used a hole saw to cut around each screw and then either undid them with mole grips or cut them flush to the underdeck structure.

I just ripped the transom plate off... Got all the screws out with an impact driver.

Unfortunately there was no wood between the plate and deck, but they glued the plate with lots of caulk to the deck.

But there was lot of corrosion of the aluminium, and now I have the ~140x70cm part off, so I can sandblast and repaint it.

Did they build all transoms this way?

Next I will clear the deck of the helm, jockey seat, and all the foot loops, get rid of the old deck coating, and rebuild it with black epoxy and quartz sand...

Atlantic fitting console to deck

Hi there,
Wondering if anyone can tell me how the bolts that are used to to fit the console to the deck on an Atlantic or an arctic are secured.
Also the Alu plate on the transom has bolts too.
Are there nuts glassed in to the stringers underneath.
Thanks in advance

Yeah, kind of. For the transom, there are nuts welded to a plate and glassed in.

I guess they did it the same way with the deck and helm.
