About to buy a RIB please help.

Please help I am about to buy a 1990 Avon Searider fitted with a 1991 Yamaha 40 hp autolube engine with power tilt e.t.c
The boat is on a good trailer and the whole package appears in good order, the boat, trailer and outboard have been serviced yearly by an approved dealer. The difficult bit, the owner wants me to make an offer - what is this boat worth - how much should I offer ?? The boat does not have any added accessories.

Offer him £500. When he looks offended, then ask him how much he wants for it . . .

Brodie ......Seariders are good boats, the hull is pretty simply made from a fixing things perspective, to gauge the value we need to know more details like the condition of the tubes, hull, seats etc and list what kits going to be included with the sale.

JK's right (again) offer him a stupid amount and see what he says, he may not know what its worth and agree to a silly amount.

If you want to know what to look out for when going to look at a 14 year old boat just ask..... i and others here have bought old and renervated and learnt the lessons at cost !!

Brodie I would go along with John as if he wants to sell it he must have a price in mined! But a guess he will tell you more than he will be willing to take for it!
Go in low if he wants to play games.
Nick

Thanks for the advice - It is a 4.0 Searider, the boat looks in very good condition, the bottom of the boat is almost unmarked (couple of small scartches) the tubes look good apart from one small patch. The boat has a screen and 2 side by side seats. The current owner is having the boat serviced this week and getting it ready for this season as it was winterised.
The boat has a white bottom and light grey tubes.

Whats it worth !!

Brodie

Its worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it !!

If it helps my boat is the same age as this one your looking at, is a little longer and has a double jockey seat and centre consoul, i paid £1700 just over a year ago for it...... Be warned though if you buy something really cheap your probably buying someone elses problems and a boat of this age will inevitable have some problems.....mine did/has !!
