Hi all, I’m new on here and new to boating etc. I brought my new rib a ‘Highfield 420DL’ just before lock-down so it’s stuck in Wales still in the showroom. The RYA course was booked for March and obviously cancelled. I’m looking forward to learning more about Rib’s in general and safety etc. Let’s hope this Virus hurries up and does one!

I think I have most of the safety equipment covered:
Life Jackets, Anchor, ICOM IC-M25EURO radio and spare rope. Still got to get flares.

Welcome, think twice about flares, they are a pain in the arse to dispose of, have short shelf lives and are expensive. They do have a place but many use LED Flare the Ocean Signal EDF1. If you have a GPS, a VHF, a Mobile & a PLB then I would not bother but it may depend on the areas you plan to visit. A flare is done and dusted within a few minutes of firing whereas an LED Flare will flash for hours. There maybe arguments for having an orange smoke flare to aid a helicopter with wind.
