Hello from Scottish Borders

Have just obtained a Avon Searider (our other boat is a Shetland family four) I have been trying to find out the age of the Avon but posted the wrong ser number the other day. The number is:- 00161, I was told that the last two numbers denote the year of manufacture, but this cannot be right as untill 1970ish the searider hull was wood and ours is fibreglass.
Both my wife and I are disabled but are looking forward to using the rib for coast hopping next year after I have done some work on it

Hi

Just sold my Shetland for health and domestic reasons. Hoping to keep my boating interests going by coast hopping so bought a honwave AE3.8 with a 20hp outboard.
Perhaps see you along the coast when the weather is better.
Cheers Grahame

Hi,
We have a Shetland family four that we will be selling (with a bit of luck) in the spring. Which coast are you planning on cruising, the east or west? We plan on towing our avon 4M behind our motorhome and just pottering around on the west coast and maybe do a bit of fishing. Later in the year we are going to stay on a camp site called Port Ban at Kilberry just north of Tarbert. Just across the sound is Jura and Isla. We have stayed at this site for the past two years but this will be the first time with the RIB, I have nearly finnished the work on it, the next job is to strip the outboard down and give it a good service. I hope to have it all back together and in the water by the end of Feb.

Hi

welcome to the forum and grahame W ( I take it this means your 4+2 is sold, if well done) and if we can help please call us.

Dave
PS Grahame snagglepuss has been kept due to not being able to find a boat at an even ok ish price with 6 foot 2 bed so hopefully you will join me on loch lomond for a day this season.

Hi,
The Shetland is not sold yet as I need to give it a good clean first as it has been standing on its trailer on our drive for the past year. Since new (1990) it has had less than 100hrs use, it has a Suzuki DT55 outboard that is in mint condition so I should get a good price for it when I get round to putting it on the market.

We should arrange a rock hopping trip around the Forth for Inflatables some time this year.
