Hello

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the site, and was after some advice from those in the know.

My bombard C5 (inflatable) has reached the end of its life and I think its time to say life's too short and get a rib.

I was thinking of around the 4-5 meter size as I will be storing it at home and towing with a 2ltr mondeo. Along with 30hp and upwards on the back.

Main uses will be for diving, inshore fishing (5 miles or so offshore) and generally having a great day out.

My budget is 10-15k and was wondering if this would get me a decent package?? This is about as much as I can spend so wanted to make sure it's a dream worth perusing or just go with another inflatable.

Any advice appreciated and thanks in advance,

Cheers,

Jon.

Under normal circumstances I’d say that with your (healthy) budget, you should be able to pick up a nice sub 10yr old outfit. Times, however ain’t normal. Prices are high & the season is approaching. You will find a boat within budget, but you’re going to have to be swift & prepared to compromise. 30hp is a bit weedy for anything over 4m, you need to be looking at 50-60hp IMO, depending on hull rating.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Yeah, I have heard its a bit of a sellers market at the moment.
Would you have any recommendations regarding where to buy?
I was thinking a dealer may be best as that hopefully leads to less problems in the future?
Are there any you could suggest, South Coast preferable.

Sorry, can’t recommend any stealers on the south coast (where IS that btw?, I keep hearing about it[emoji848]) Personally I would steer clear & buy private, you’ll get more for your money. Keep an eye on the For Sale section on Ribnet & seek the advice of the collective on any specific boat. Chances are that someone will know the boat & be able to give you some pointers.
Beware of EBay scammers, DO NOT PART WITH ANY MONEY, not even a deposit, until you are stood at the side of the boat in the flesh.
