Steering: replace monocable

I tried the new secondhand steering on my Aerotec, unfortunately the cable is too short. Is it possible to replace the cable ?

I would think so. Cables tend to get stiff or lock up after a while.

OTOH, where are you trying to mount the helm? Up front? Can you move the location towards the back (ride is better back there)?

no, it's a fixed location. Just in front of the seat. I guess I will look for another secondhand unit, the 9ft cable runs at over 150 euro's. Can anybody with a similar setup check their cable-length ?

I bought the same steering set up a few years ago to use on a 2.7 sunsport, never got round to using it as would have had to butcher it to much to make it fit.
Glad I never decided to have ago at making it fit as got the aerotec 2 years ago. Only problem it had an 8' cable on, it needs to be 10'.
Trying to find a cable was a nightmare. Found some one selling a 10' sealed unit on ebay for £15 and a fiver postage (new), so thought for that price could have a go at making it fit.
Sealed unit type that's in a pressed steel box section and welded up, had to cut this up to remove cable ,then make fit.

Took some time and effort, but works a treat.

I've checked the cable, it's an Ultraflex M45 9ft 80 A. When I measure the cable (the black part excluding the metal ending) it's 2.10 meters (approx 7ft). I can only find M55 cables, are they the same ?
Can somebody with an aerotec with remote steering check the cable length ?
