Have a look at the Honwave T38 ie3 they are very light and I think would suit your needs well.

Tbh being too specific on requirements makes it difficult. Just stick to a smaller sib with a light engine and wait and see what comes up. If you want to plane with more than 2 then it's probably going to be a 10-15hp that's required, if the sibs small and light enough. Seen some great old avon sports sibs around but they would need a trailer and a big outboard, heavy well made sibs, too much hassle to set up and use.

I'd send dhaglund a PM and ask him how he got on.
Since that old thread was mentioned here I updated it with the result. My short answer is: Don't do it.

Many thanks for to all for taking the time to reply! Much appreciated.

I knocked the idea on the head of purchasing the 4.6-4.7m sib I was considering and going to keep my eyes peeled for something smaller.

I’ll hopefully be back once I have my new setup in the coming weeks.

Plan is to get a 380-400 max with a 15-20hp.

Am I right in thinking that the Tohatsu 15hp and 20hp are the same outboard with different ecu? So should be the same weight?

Hi, same block same weight, but I found a big difference in performance

Tohatsu/Merc/Mariner are basically the same OB underneath the hood.

This thread may help:-

Many manufacturers share blocks across a range of HPs. The Suzuki 20hp at around 44kg is at the lightweight end for a 20hp, but the Suzi 9.9 is the same engine with a different map, so it makes it a heavy lump for a 9.9.

Good plan. I have a 380 with a Suzuki 20 EFI. That's a very good combo. Sure 30 hp is even better but much less portable. There is a thread on here where I try 5 different outboards on my SIB.
