First puncture

Hello guys

Help!
Tried to patch floor on honwave t38. But cocked it up! Didn’t hold. Managed to get the patch back off leaving glue residue.
Can anyone recommend anyone near Chester that does these repairs?

And also. How to clean off the glue residue?

Pretty sure Honwaves are PVC. I'd probably heat it up with a hairdryer and use a paint scraper (edges rounded off) to remove the worst, then green dish scrubber with MEK. Wear gloves and work in ventilated area. Wash the boat down afterwards.

If it's going in somewhere to be professionally repaired, they'll do this anyway. Preparation is half the job.

If you are going to take it to a pro - I’d let them remove the residue they’ll need to prep the surface anyway.

Eurocraft and SIT are both in/near Preston if that is not too far for you?

There probably are people closer who do small repairs.

Dichloromethane was very good at removing glue on a PVC boat, when I did repairs to my aerotec last year....got it from a well known auction site. It doesn't cost much and it is worth getting used to repairs as makes it cheaper and faster to get back on the water. Where possible for permanent repair use the two part adhesive but be aware of the humidity and temp constraints when doing it. (If I can do it anyone can and if worst happens clean it up and do it again, heat gun to get patch off, solvent above removes the glue).

I managed to get a guy from Conwy to fix it for me. Did a good job. Fast turn around. Cost me £45 to fix.

Fair enough, maybe if you have some spare money and a little bit of time get some pvc and glue and give it a go yourself....just for some practice and confidence if you ever do need to do it.
