Avon 8 colour?

So out at the weekend fishing, we launched our tender an Avon 8, but looks like it's picked up a puncture as the aft tube deflated quite quickly when we were beach-combing. That said, 3 adults managed to squeeze in and row back!

I've repaired PVC before and have hypalon glue, just need to check its still useable. I have repair patches for the Ribcraft 4.8m (light grey), but what colour are Avon? I'm sure I read it's mid grey? The Avon 8 is very similar to Redcrest or Redstart tenders.

Polymarine list a couple of options, basically Grey and Light Grey, but RIBstore have Arctic Grey, Military Grey and Neptune Grey.

I may have some Avon patches in my garage that came out of a Avon repair kit if they are of any use to you.

Have you found the actual puncture?

My Avon 8 rear section was deflating quite quickly, and I couldn't see from where.

A small squirt of Fairy Liquid down the valve and its absolutely fine.

Hope that's your problem.

If you have hypalon glue already, how old is it? Most 2 part adhesives have a 1 year shelf life from manufacture.

Avon made their own hypalon, so the Orca range (which includes Artic, Neptune and Military) won't match perfectly. Military is usually used as the nearest colour though.

As Ribtecer has mentioned, do check the valves too - repair kits are pretty straight forwards to fit. Although, usually valves leak fairly slowly.

All sorted, apologies for the delay. Yes definately a hole. I was like Captain Jack Sparrow rowing back to the Black Pearl hoping it wouldn't sink!

These boats are tough as old boots, and its my first puncture, although it has a couple of previous repairs from a previous life.

Thank you 69cmw thats very kind of you. I've spoken to Sam at Ribstore, so will order hypalon and glue. I looked at what I had in the garage and its from 2018!
