Custom pulpit in the SF Bay Area

Hi,

Can anyone recommend someone in the SF Bay Area (prefer East Bay) to build a custom pulpit for our rib? I was going to go the Svendsen's in Alameda, but I thought I would see if there is someone else that people like to use.

Thanks

Console? How about having one fabbed out of aluminum?

If not, you probably need to hunt down a fiberglass fabricator. Doubt it really needs to be an operation that specializes in marine products.

I don't recall hearing of anyone who has ever done a one-off build of any similar component, but I also don't know too many people doing restoration work that would entail that kind of job.

jky,

I am looking to have a stainless steel pulpit made for the bow, it would attach at three points and have the running lights mounted to it. It would give any passangers sitting forward something to grab onto other than the straps on the tubes.

Ah. Gotcha.

Stainless is going to be heavy (which may not be a bad thing, depending on your boat.)

Do you have plans drawn up? Looked into how to secure it to the deck?

I like Svendsens as a chandler; don't know much about their custom shop.
I would think that just about any sheet metal/welding shop could do what you're looking for.
