Garmin Bluechart

I recently tried to buy another unlock code for my Atlantic Map Sourse CD I tried online and was shocked to see the charge for an unlock code is $350 inc TAX (VAT in other words).

I bought my Garmin when over in the US a couple of months ago and only paid $200 for the Blue Chart Atlantic disk with one unlock code so I thought it may be worth calling the company I bought them off and sure enough they sell an unlock voucher for $147 and will just email me the code.

Rip Off Britain at its level best.

List price for additional BlueChart Regular unlock code is £125.99 inc VAT, available for less. New chart CD and one unlock should be under £150 for regular, under £104 for small charts.

Granted $147 is still better. £ is good against $ at the moment, so works in our favour for buying.

Were you buying direct off the Garmin site or from a reseller?

I just logged on to the garmin website.

I think they take the UK price and then turn it into $ then chuck on a bit of Tax for good measure.

The real bonus is in the fact these guys email you the code rather than posting the coupon to you, that way you don't have to pay import tax!!

Sorry Wibber but I notice this is your first post and as much as I'm sure you are a bonifide member you could also be somone out to cause trouble for the company I use in the US so afraid I can't share the the info with you.
