Tohatsu 9.8 timing

Can the timing be adjusted on the Tohatsu 9.8 2-stroke engine or is it necessary to check it at the service?
I want to service the engine myself and the timing is the only thing that I cannot do. However it does appear from reading the owner's handbook that on the 9.8hp it's not necessary to check it.
(the handbook covers the 6hp 8hp 9.8hp 2-stroke but also appears to apply to 4-stroke as well, as it says you cannot lay the engine on it's side due to "oil leakage" etc)

But the handbook not very clear about timing of the 9.8 2-stroke.

2 strokes 9.8 does not leak oil if layed sideways, 4 strokes does. You must not play with timing as comes factory well adjusted. Unless someone has tampered with the engine and has set out timing specs.

Happy Boating

Lightning your timing will be fine unless you have put mega hours on your motor.

I'm looking at a DIY service too as the last service was done professionally and I've only run 30 hours since with no problems.
Just looking at gear oil pumps as the squeezie bottles seem to be a faff.
