Repower Suzuki 200 v Yami F150

I have to repower a Ribeye 650 and thinking of changing from the F150 to the Suzuki 200 4 cylinder

I know it’s more HP, but I tend to have heavy loads on the boat, and wonder will the 4 cylinder have the same grunt re getting to plane?

The forums tend to note the Suzuki 200 is faster than the Yami 200... but no real review of the 200 v F150

Any members got info on repowering with the new 4cylinders and performance?

I'm running a Merc/Mariner F150 on My Coastline 6.5 and it'll leave my mates Ribeye 6.5/ Yam F150 for dead. Very, very noticeable on hole shot and acceleration and I've still got two or thee knots on him at the top end.

I have a Suzuki 250af (fly by wire) on my 7m. It’s fantastic. Got about 300 hours in it over the last three years. No problems. Love it when I tell friends to cast off and they ask if I’m going to start the engine first? (It’s already running).

Might be a good move. ...Suzuki 150-200 can swing a 16 in diameter prop due to lower gearing. Seems that would be good for a heavy load.

A friend had twin F150's on an H733 and they don't have the same grunt as the twin DF200's I have on my hard boat.

Why not the Yam F200 4 stroke?

The yamaha and Suzuki are virtually the same size in terms of cubes so I suspect the difference in power will be minimal.

It had to be said, I wouldn't buy any 4 cylinder 200hp when mercury just dropped a v6. Is there no dealers within a reasonable distance to go that route?

I do have some experience here and there is NO way my 200 v6 would go for a 4 pot 200 when mercury v6 is an option.

Ya, I’m thinking the 4 pot will lack the grunt.... think I’ll be saving for a Suzuki v6 200 hp

I can’t seem to find anyone who fitted the merc V6... very new out and I know they had production issues re ramping up.... don’t know if I want a engine that is only new in the market and no track record.
