Mercury 30hp 2 stroke - oil/fuel ratio?
Gents,
I've just purchased a 2005/2006 Mercury 30hp O/B - 2 stroke 2nd hand.
It came with no manuals - can anyone tell me the oil/fuel ratio?
Also - any idea where can I get a manual from?
Many Thanks,
Steve

We used to have a 30hp Mariner 2 stroke before it was pinched, and if I remember right it was 50:1
oh, and you can get manuals from: http://www.brunswickmarineemea.com/d...main?type=corp
Just select the type of engine, year & type in the box by the launch button, and it will show all relevent manuals that you can download

I've got a 2005/6 Mariner 25hp. The 30hp is just an uprated version I believe with bigger fuel jets.
Mine is a 50:1 ratio.

Thanks for the replies gents; I'll go with 50:1...
With respect to the manual - I can't seem to find a modern manual on that link? (my Outboard is 2005/6) 43900 is mid 80's?
Cheers,
Steve

Hola Steve
If your Mariner 30 HP model engine looks like this photo, is a disguissed Tohatsu outboard made in Japan and exported to USA for Mariner/Mercury brands with their own characteristic logos and colours. 25 & 30 HP has the same cc, that is 430, the 25 HP has an air restriction plate on the carb entrance and throttle adjustments to lessen power.
What manual are you looking for, owners manual, spare parts manual ? Have all the requested information available, I'm a Tohatsu dealer, just email me to send whatever info you need. Pleased to lend you a hand.
Saludos,
Locozodiac

Hi,
I have a 2012 Mercury 30HP outboard ME30MHLITE2S
30 HP MH Lite 2 Stroke Short Shaft (Made in Japan).
Is it also a Tohatsu and has it an air restriction plate and throttle adjustments to reduce power? If so can I modify it to make more power?
Cheers,
Danny

Only the 25hp 'detuned' models can be upgraded to produce 30hp by removing the carby restrictor and advancing the ignition timing. Your 30hp already produces 30hp, the difference compared to the 25hp is only noticeable at WOT as this is where the fuel flow really matters. Other possible ways to maximise the power output of your engine could be to ensure it is mounted correctly and that you are using the best prop for your rig.
