Maybe help needed at Elgin , Schotland

Hello people near Elgin,

Is there a trustworthy person who would be so kind to help me buying some parts?
Only would have to cheque an address and the part.
Could someone tell me how to travel to Elgin by air and public transportation or is there a ferry from and to Holland nearby
Anny info is welkom,

Thanks

Bert

I think that Inverness is the nearest airport to Elgin. It is about 45mins by motor car.

Aberdeen is the airport you'd have to fly to direct from Schiphol with KLM or Air UK. You can then either hire a car or take the train to Elgin (65 miles). Ferry services, either Newcastle - Amsterdam (DFDS Seaways) or Rosyth - Zeebruge (Norfolk Line). What's the part you're buying - please don't say an outboard!

Other options would be Aberdeen (about 1.5hrs by road) or Edinburgh (roughly 4 hrs by road). The nearest "ferry" to the Continent is to Rosyth (from Zebruge) and will still be about 4hrs drive in Scotland; I think Newcastle is about the closest you can get direct from the Netherlands - it will take you around 7 hours to driver from the ferry to Elgin.

There is a train station in Elgin (on the Inverness - Aberdeen line) if that helps - train and road times in Scotland will be roughly the same, but the Newcastle to Edinburgh "leg" is about twice as quick by train.

None of those options is going to be cheap though, so it would need to be a "high risk or high value purchase" to justify the cost?

Just guessing! To save yourself time and money coming across (in case the engine isn't as described) - possibly there's someone local here that could give it the once over. If I was closer, I'd volunteer, but Elgin is an 80 mile round trip for me. I'd want to see lots of pictures, service history and possibly a video on Youtube of it running. There are a few members here that are relatively close - ALANT, jaemsie, JICboats and Free... might be worth dropping them a PM?
