Is a Johnson 115 a Suzuki?

Hi Folks,

I'm looking at an XS 6m with a Johnson 115, 2004 year.

The selling dealer is telling me the Johnson is exactly the same as the Suzuki, do any of you have any knowledge of this or how good they are?

Unfortunately I am an 8 hour round trip away to check the motor out, so was trying to do a bit of homework first.

Any info would be a help.

If it's a 4 stroke (which it should be if its a 2004 as they had stopped production of 2 strokes at that point) then yes it is a rebadged Suzuki DF115. Exactly the same other than the paint and decals.

welcome to the forum!

if this is the XS at Largs i'm local to that and could get some pics etc if you want to save the journey incase it is wasted. i had noticed it on brokerage before as not many have johnson motors :-)

i should say i'm not a qualified surveyor or anything but been about boats nearly 20 years so happy to have a looksy if it makes your decision any easier.

i was in same dilema as you with a rib down at southampton and thanks to kind folks on here saved me buying a wrong un.

Your feedback is appreciated, If it's a Suzuki I'm happy to head down and check it out.

Thanks for the offer to have a look for me, but the seller has sent me quite a few pics and the next stage is taking it for a test run on the water.

I'm looking for a replacement for my Humber Atlantis 5.5 which was a bit tired with it's old Yam 85 pre-mix 2stroke. So thought the XS would make a good dive RIB
