the boss used to have a little rib with sail - if you search for tinker traveller you should find it.

their was a rib that sailed across the atlantic (or was it a circumnavigation?) a while ago. If memory serves correctly it was a humber and skippered by a crazy irish man. The right search should find some posts about it.

My train of thought began with could I rig a sail (Genoa type) to get me home after engine failure. (You know like water in the fuel) I keep a collapsable ladder on board very use full when the tide is out and my thoughts ran to the practicalities of it. Then I wondered if it had ever been done on a proper Rib, rigged out with a proper sail. I can't imagine its never been done.

Thanks Cubkat just checkout Walker Bay thats really interesting they state in a diagram that tubes prevent tipping because of the added bouancy, can't imagine it would plane much though
