What does it mean?

I am asking this silly, for most I'm sure, question.

What these green and grey dots under the heading Credibility mean? Who awards them and for what purpose?

Nik, I think you may have just re-opened a can of worms!

The green blobs as they are known are the level of Credibility that that person is supposed to have. You can award some credibility points to someone if you think they have been helpful (to me for example !) or you can take them away. You do this by clicking on the little box that has a tick in it in the persons profile on the left hand side.

A lot of people don't like the blobs, a lot of people have a good few blobs but don't really know what they are talking about (like me) and some people seem not to have any blobs but are very brainy about all things RIBs.

Pretty much everyone on here is very helpful in their own kind of way (as shown in your "new rib" thread) and you'll get to know who is who pretty soon!

Cheers

Tim

PS so are you one of my lecturers at soton uni?! perhaps you are the person who gave me this bugger of a project to do!

I got three!

and that's as many as you can get,

The blobs are also linked to volume of posts as in the more you can post and make the more opportunity people got to blob you!

I am not fond of the system myself even though they are awarded by your peers

Yuk.

I saw Bonza 1 the other day Ray, in The Hamble. Recognised the distinctive repair patch first!. Seems to be getting a fair amount of use, I have seen her quite a lot.

The only purpose they have is to entertain the children.

Now watch mine disappear.

There's quite a long discussion about it on this thread: http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4588

I've just spent an entertaining hour or so examining who has been giving what to whom -- most enlightening! There do seem to be one or two fueds going on which is a bit sad, but on the whole I think that the system seems to be working quite well.

In case anyone is curious, here are the top ten users of the reputation system:

1 JCW
2 Louise
3 The Jackeens
4 John Kennett
5 Richard B
6 jackeen
7 timw
8 MadMat
9 simmons0
10 Fiona N
