Helicopter trip over london

Just thought i would share this with the team

we were invited to take a trip in the air harrods helicopter today over london, it was great, we set off from battersea heliport and travelled along the thames and managed to see some of our famous landmarks from a fantastic viewing angle. it was a fab trip and there are some amazing marinas and private water areas along the thames which i was not aware of previously. we saw a few boats having fun on the thames and i am definately up for taking a trip thru london on the boat now as it must be a great trip.

there were 4 of us and we had champagne on ice and the full treatment. Also there is a great Thai resturant just along from the heliport that does some great food so we had lunch there, "Thai on the river" and was very reasonable.

after our flight we retired to a nice pub on the river near woking somewhere, and we watched the barges making their way thru the lock while sipping some nice cool beers in the pub garden.

took over 300 photos over london which seem to have come out great

i can really recommend this type of day out if you get the chance.......

Do you have any of the Thames that you could post?

it says they are too large to upload, so will have a look and pick out some of the ones that show most of the thames and make em smaller and post them

any particular bits you want to see

also vided the hole trip so can show that as well if you pop round one lunch time or can just make a cd of the pics

Cool!

You can re-size a load of pictues at once with Image Resizer. Have you read this as it explains all.

The Thames from the air would probably be interesting to lots of people on here like timw.

I was out on the tidal section of the Thames yesterday afternoon with family and friends.

We were buzzed by a helecopter for a while - but assume it was police not you?! We'd spent a while under Lambeth Bridge, next to Houses of Parliament, sheltering from a rain shower and looked a little suspicious I guess.

Actually the brief rain shower really made the trip. The HoP lit up by bright sunshine, rain falling on the thames and a beautiful rainbow touching the Millennium wheel. Under the bridge was like being inside a waterfall. Fantastic & one of those events few will ever experience.

No digital pictures I'm afraid, only video (and not very good at that!).

we were in the air uptil around 3.10 and were in the area from around 12 ish and had no rain so must have been later in the day when you got caught in the shower. if you know where you were around 2.45 -3.10 ish then let me know and i will see if you are on the pics, we saw one cruiser on the plane making way towards the eye from the thames barrier, was this you?

Hmm, about that time we would have been headed towards the eye form Greenwich where we launched at about 1:45pm. We pulled up at Westminster Boating base for lunch at about 3:30pm.

The Rain shower was at about 16:15 for about 10 minutes.

Doesn't sound like us you saw - I wouldn't call my boat a cruiser! (6m sports RIB, blue tubes).

But if it was - wow!

Surely thats just dirt on your lens....!!!!

Well we may never know for sure but if you're sure it's a RIB, then it just might be. I didn't see anyother RIBs out (other than the lifeboat). Do you have a higher resolution version anywhere? Maybe email me.

rulloyd@yahoo.co.uk

Awesome, thanks! Rich

Well your picture shows us just passing over the Rotherhithe Tunnel. We passed Bid Ben at 3:05, so I guess the timings about right. Assuming that's a RIB, looks likely that that's us! Cooool!!!!

The family we went with had a truly fantastic day. Imagine their surprise when I said "Oh, and here's the view from 1000ft up...."

Yes, but you don't need additional software.

1. You can use the command prompt, not as scarey as you might think. Firstly change to the folder where the pictures are, it makes life easier later. In this example, my pictures are in C:\web
Just type FTP and then the name of your server. Enter username and password at the prompts (pressing enter after each ). Then change to the upload folder (the same one that you would have used with the FTP software) by using the CD command and then the folder name. Then type PUT and the name of your file.... That's It!!
2. You can use Windows Explorer and set up the FTP site in Network Places, however I've found this to be troublesome.
3. Smart FTP is one of the leading GUI shareware/freeware packages which you should be able to find using Google.

When you've finished, type BYE to leave the FTP session.

HTH!

aghhhh

you dont need to resort to the command prompt for FTP

just use windows explorer and you can simply drag and drop your files to your ftp server.

simply open up windows explorer and type in the folowing in the address bar.

ftp://usernameassword@servername.co.uk

obviously replacing username with your ftp username and password wioth you password. and servername.co.uk with your ftp address

then you can drag and drop file to and from your ftp site as easilly as copying files form one folder to another on your pc

Don't be silly... someone will always be willing to relieve you of your cash in exchange for a fancily named software package

Roy... as in point 2 and you can of course use Internet Explorer if you so wish.
