Gel Coat Restoration

Non RIB so have posted in the other stuff.

At risk of morphing into an Oppy Parent I've bought the wee man a rather old GRP Oppy for his Birthday.

It's intact and was a bargain.

However its Gel Coat leaves a lot to be desired. Very little in the way of chips but it looks like someone went over it with wet n dry or a green scourer. It feels perfectly smooth.

You guys seem able to polish a turd rather well ... What's your preferred solution for this?

Fit tubes and an engine to it and nobody will notice

Needs a good compound and polish: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_o...pound&_sacat=0

The lower the number the more abrasive the product is. Finish with a good wax. An electric polisher will make light work of that.

RIBase
Farecla Profile 300 Rapid Cut Compound 1L Marine NEW | eBay

This is what I used on the Ballistic. There's probably enough in there to do 3 boats.

Do you apply by hand or use a powered polisher?

Rich

1200 wet and dry, then power rotary(not orbital!) polisher with a firm foam mop. Keep a water spray handy as you don't want it to dry.
