Ahh, thats it jinxed Now we all know who to blame if it is chucking it down

Getting the details sorted now mean that I get to relax on Sunday, get all the stuff organised before the trip down to the little bits and bobs, make sure everyone knows the details and then on the day I can relax as everything hopefully runs smoothly and have some fun myself. Learnt organising dive trips to some weird and wonderful places based on the rule of the 6 P's
There will be a post on Friday/Sat with ALL the details in it and I will bring copies to give to everyone on the day when we meet.
Is there anyone who minds If I put their name, MMSI, boat and mobile number on this sheet handed out on the day?
If you don't want any of this given out to the folk coming let me know otherwise all these details garnered this week will be on the sheet to make sure we can get in touch and know who is who.

I didn't say Glasgow, I said Govan
I worked there for many years on the Underground at Broomloan road, many is the time we had bottles, bricks and even shot at with air rifles while working on the signals in the yard. They even managed to steal 600v track feeder cables while they were live!
I am going to make sure I am at the front going past as I reckon if I go fast enough they will have had time to "tool up" and will be aiming at the slowcoaches at the rear
Either that or make sure someone else is between me and the land. It might be fun, everyone there all going as fast as possible past Govan and the same time all trying to hide behind each other to make someone else the "target"
By the way, before anybody takes this seriously, I am only joking kinda!

Clyde RIB Raid

OK guys, final plan barring problems-
Schedule-
Meeting Kip just outside the entrance at 10:30am on Sunday 7th.
Leave approx 10:45 to allow for stragglers and saying hello.
travel up Clyde picking up anybody on the way, will be arranged with those folk as far as
times and meeting points are concerned.
Arrive at City centre and have a looksee.
Arrive back down river at Braehead approx 12:00-12:30 and berth on pontoon.
Pay to get into museum if wanted (optional), go for lunch at the various food places inside
and outside Braehead.
Approx 13:00-14:00 leave Braehead and travel downriver splitting up as we go to various
recovery points on river.
Pontoon use is kind of free, we have been asked for a "small" donation which may consist of enough folk going to the museum or in the worst case a quid or so a skull. Museum can be accessed half price in any case with printed voucher.

Waypoints-
KIP 55, 54.607 N, 004, 53.136 W meeting point at kip.

Weather-
As of 05/09/08 forecast 7knt NE sunny 16C, High coming in to be over Scotland by 12:00 Sunday, whoopee!

Contacts-
Clydeport Working channels on day
Channel 12 Channels 12 and 16. 67 if tri-watch available on radio

I have a pile of this info and more printed out and made up to email to anyone that wants a printed copy to laminate. Will have spare unlaminated copies on the day.
Drop me a PM with an email address and I'll forward it on. I also have all the contact info but don't want to type this out several times in PM's or post publicly, drop me an email address again if you want a copy.
Now I can go and get the RIB ready and fueled and relax and enjoy the trip myself

Just to say peeps what a great day out today. Great to see the number of boats we had, and I must confess I was sorry I didn't get the chance for more of a chin wag !! . I don't quite know why I haven't done this cruise before but I've driven over all of Glasgow's bridges a million times and always wanted to see them from the water instead. So today I did

Thanks Bruce et al, for all the planning & research, and I hope you gave the dog a big bonio when you got home .. My dog (Cocker Spaniel) loves the boat too, in fact she is a diver, and will retrieve things from the sea bottom up to about 2-3 feet down , something I've never seen in a dog, but I don't think she would have lasted that length of cruise.

Our little diversion on the road home took us up the River Cart, almost to Paisley we went under the lifting bridge at the Normandy and up to the M8 flyover up past Glasgow Airport ,.. we bottled out at about 1.8m depth although the tide was increasing but due to the amount of rubbish around I was worried about obstructions,.. and I have to say,... that river is filthy, really filthy, we're talking a dead cow in the tidal zones amongst any assortment of domestic rubbish, that I have never seen, including old oil barrels in the mud etc and I cant believe its allowed to exist like this in this day and age, the Clyde its self was pleasant by comparison, but the Cart was an education in how far we still have to go with some of our waterways shocking !

Anyway what a blast .. funny how my photos of the new stealth warships didn't turn out ...... ... but will post up some general ones here once my Nokia finally uploads whats in it

Yep, lots of rubbish in the river on the way down, funny there wasn't as much on the way up.
We did hit something near the Erskine bridge quite hard that I didn't see till the last second and only managed to jink partially out of the way of, doesn't seem to have done more than a few scratches on the hull just aft of the bow
We had a look at the sugar boat on the way back and its a lot more interesting than it looks from the shore.
If I am ever feeling particularly brave I may try diving it one of these days as i am sure lots of stuff is on the seabed around it. I reckon it will be very murky though in there, a very "touchy feely" rather than "looky looky" type of dive
Mine is a bit of a diver as well, will do duck dives into a few feet of water to retrieve white rocks. I thought he was unique as well
We also got stopped by the Police on the way home and had the trailer inspected afer they tried it on saying we were speeding.( yeah right, with a 1.2t boat and trailer on the A85 with all those hills and bends) By this time the other half had polished off most of a bottle of wine as was driving home, was quite funny to hear her giving them what you would call a "talking to" very loudly as they tried to find fault with the trailer and failed ( it is massively overrated for the boat and its brand new so everything works!)
Eventually they just left us alone without so much as a HORTI, think they thought we were an easy target as they have been targeting boat trailers recently up here for loadings and condition and getting a fair number overloaded or defective. Be aware of this if you are coming up the west coast, its a hot issue here at the moment but not sure why this is so. I may ask next time they come into work and see what they say.

should have mentioned that It really is a no go area we got pretty close to paisley a few years ago but were stoned on the way back and the channel is to narrow to take avoiding action my crew got a broken arm and police were to busy nabbing motorist ect and seemed to think it was our fault. wonder what they have done if i HAD fired some flares at them.
we spent some time on The Glenlee and i think i have a years pass for next time. If mooring to Glenlee lifejackets are to be worn to go ashore
good to meet ya all and thanks to Bruce

I don't know? where do you want to go?
Our next trip out will probably be down to Scarba way on the weekend of the 21st with a barbie on the beach near the Corrywreckan.
next is planned to go to Knoydart/inner hebrides sep weekend.
Depends on weather but company would be good on either.

Talking last night on the way home I think we will be going up the Clyde again at night sometime in a month or two. I am going to find out when the Xmas lights go up and pick a saturday to go up in the afternoon when the nights draw in a bit, have lunch/dinner possibly at the campanile, and return after dark around 5pm-6pm after seeing the "city lights" with a run back down the river in the dark (or kind of dark as it is pretty well lit most of the way down)
We left right after you and couldn't catch up!
