Cool.

I think we're now on 12 boats.

Don't worry about the A frame height, its just a rough idea that we need just get you into Limehouse Basin.

If things change and you can't make it please let me know asap.

Dear all,

I've spoken to the Port of London Authority and they seem happy for our "cruise in company" to go ahead. I've now emailed them the details and we will have to wait and see what they say.

I have assumed that everybody has a VHF radio so if you haven't got one please let me know so we can sort out a borrow for you.

Experience has told me that using radios can really complicate things so I am proposing to use face to face communication for most things. However we all need to monitor channel 14 during the day which is the current port wide channel for London VTS. My boat and the tail end boat (Barrier II) will also monitor Ch 16.

Please note that this is a "cruise in company" and neither me or RIBnet are responsible for you, your boat or your actions. It will remain the responsibility of the skipper of each boat to navigate it appropriately! (Except if your a jetski in which case your not allowed to "navigate" anyway! )

The Carbon Neutral Thames Rib cruise

Since we all have to be more aware of our carbon emisions, i have done some sums with the help of futureforests.com and the national energy foundation and we will be emitting about 500Kg of Carbon on our thames cruise if everyone turns up.

The emissions can be offset by planting trees, in this case ONE tree.

This weekend i will be planting a new small orchard, of about 25 trees at home so we will have offset enough carbon for a further 240 rib days.

Now we can all go and play happily in the knowledge that we have neutralized the effect of our personal greenhouse gas emissions, so that our personal and household activities no longer contribute to the dangers of global warming.

Well thank you for carrying out the necessary carbon balance equation for our little jolly. Everybody please go and plant a tree!

As my polluting A3 is off the road (4 weeks and counting now and they honestly think they are gonna give it back to me!!! Pull the other one!) I will be making a slightly less harmful impact on the environment than normal!

by the way as Will is only planting a small orchard this weekend and not a forrest, anymore boats on this trip will be forbidden from start their engines at anytime during the trip unless they have independent confirmation that they have planted a tree!

Hi Chris,

am i correct in assuming from your post last night that you have not yet booked the venue for lunch? If not, and it's not too much hassle, could I change from 4 to 6 for lunch? I guess it'll make up for Zodiac Rover cancelling 2 places!

If it's an issue, let me know.

Thanks
Neil
