Plymouth to Lymington

Not really a cruise or on a rib, but I am potentially taking a 52ft motor cruiser from Plymouth to Lymington this weekend. I know the Weymouth to Lymington part quite well but never ventured any further west than Portland before.

Does anyone have any local knowledge/nice places to go have a look etc between Plymouth and Portland. Currently thinking salcombe and Dartmouth are worth a quick look in.

Cheers

Newtown Ferrers/Noss Mayo is lovely, but not exactly far from Plymouth!

I like both Dartmouth and Salcombe as places to sail into, although prefer Dartmouth ashore. I suspect you haven't got the time, but I like the trip up past Salcombe to Kingsbridge, or past Dartmouth towards Totnes.

Torquay was quite a nice little stop over, and I really liked Bridport/West Bay for some reason.

Check the tides/weather for Portland and decide whether inner passage or going outside!

Hope you have a good trip!

Thanks for the info Paul, as you say each visit will likely be a quick 'stick our nose in and then carry on' but will try and check out some of those suggested if the trip allows.

Its going to be a lumpy ride I suspect based on the forecast!! May have to try and do it in one hit depending on the weather window and any break in the wind.

Lulworth is worth a look and will be shelterd in an Easterly if you want a Tea/Scran stop by then.
Very Nice Local Fishmongers just off the Beach too
