Jurassic Coastline Cruise

I fancy doing a 2-day-1-night cruise of the Dorset coast, visiting coves, caves & anchorages.

Any takers?

Andy

Andy

would be up for this, I know this coast well and I never get bored of it.

I was within an hour of being able to make the Alderney cruise, but could not rearrange one thing, so missed out.

Andy, odd that I was thinking that a SW coast trip might be cool, people like Hugh FW always seem to highlight turquiose water bays in Dorset, so count me and the wife in, subject to all the normal stuff, babysitters etc. Where did you have in mind? Dorset is only a place Ive driven through to get somewhere else, I bet I've missed golden sands, clear water and decent watering holes in each bay, camping no problem, B&B preffered.
By the way great photos on FB. Say you and called you on Sunday as you came into Cowes to see if you wanted a quick beer, no answer, we stopped for a wee and a drink at town quay before the last leg back home. How flat was the solent? We flew home double quick.
Didnt have chance to say on Sunday but the Gimp masks looked cool, don't wear them in the bank. Are they the ones advertised on RIBNET?

Let us know on the Dorset trip. He who dares wins!

Certainly interested, logistics permitting. And like the idea of beach camping.

It has - to liven this up again what would be the prefered trip? How about.

Launch at Portland, around the harbour, over to Bowleaze for an ice cream - then a run up to Durdle door and Lulworth for a picnic. Pop o round to Poole for tea and camping / B+B. Then a return course or an open crossing to the Bill, round to the Cove for a spot of snorkeling, Church Hope cove for drinks then back into port for recovery and home.

Sounds like fun to me. Some great picture spots, a couple of great tea rooms and plenty of options for swimming / diving.

Whilst I like the suggestion, I would prefer to start at Poole and work the other way, as Poole is my home cruising area. However, if the majority are up for starting at Weymouth, then will trail or motor down.

Andy,

Sounds like a nice trip, I would be coming from fareham so could either trail to Portland or perhaps meet up with you Steve at Poole and motor round.

However my boat is out of action for atleast the next 2 weeks whilst retubing takes place so may well miss out on this one!!

Some idea of dates [weather permitting] would probably enliven things a bit Mark.

Given this thread was started by someone based in Cowes, you might find he was expecting to start from the solent!

No reason why the solent ribsters can't motor over to meet up off Poole though

As for dates, how about July 25/26; August 1/2 or August 8/9?

25/26 & 8/9 are a definate possible for me. Going west from Poole where is the next possible petrol stop ? Is there a defined Westward point ? (I dont know that part of the coast at all !)

Still not fixed my tank problem so running to a max of 100L per leg at the mo (but could bring tanks along).

We would be starting out from the River Itchen so if there are others from The Solent area, a meet somewhere en-route and around The Solent sounds favourite.
As for dates, I can do 1/2nd August. I fancy a trip up to Lulworth and some of the other good spots en route and some beach anchoring, maybe a BBQ and an overnighter (poss camping) all subject to the weather......

How many can comit to weekend 1-2 August ?
