Devon/Dorset to RIBEX - May 2007

We're in Devon near Plymouth, and are planning on going to Ribex. Would like to take the boat, possibly trailering it along the coast (say Poole?) then doing the rest by water. Anyone interested in joining us from Devon / Dorset? Some local knowledge on where to slip would be appreciated. Andy & Jo

Davis's boatyard or Cobb's Quay in Poolle will be your best bet if you're out overnight. Both provide fairly secure overnight parking and the entrances to both yards are within 20 feet of each other.
Cobbs has the better slip (no tide restrictions) but is a ridiculous price.
Davis's is cheaper and restricted by tide but easier to get in/out of the yard-Cobb's barrier can be a pain and the security's no better IMO than the hawkeyed ex copper who lives aboard in Davis's.

If you're not out overnight then you could use Baiter in Poole-much cheaper-just make sure all your valuables are hidden and everything's well locked up.
