From my charts I think the flow is about as bad from around midday until it starts easing at about 16.00.
I can't see any way we can leave early enough to get to you before midday - and we would have a strong tide against us all the way.
We could leave a lot later to get to you after 16.00 (about 18.00 would be slack I think) - but that doesn't give us much time if anything goes wrong with the crossing.

I'm open to suggestions......

I wouldn't worry too much. If there are any overfalls they'll probably be fairly localised. Just go round 'em

Its your passage plan guys, I don't even have a boat

But it is not the overfalls that would worry me, it is that you have people in all sizes of boat and if something unexpected happens you will be coping with an increasing tide.

May I suggest an RV at Yarmouth at 11.30 to give time to refuel before setting off at 12.00. VHF Ch08?

Due to me not having a boat Yet and having to work the following week I will be flying in to Alderney @ 11:45 Friday, so will be able to taste all the cakes & check the beer at the Sailing club .

I'm going home Monday on the 14:15 flight.

I have a painful back so not borrowing a ski although a couple are available.

I hope to see you all on Friday, standing-by on ch08.

From a quick look at high water times, I make slack water in Alderney as roughly 1220 on friday and 1250 on saturday. At least by the time you get near the tide will be running down towards Guernsey on the ebb which will assist you a bit. I'll check properly later on the tidal atlas, but bear in mind that slack water is at half tide round Alderney and not on the top of the tide.

No special arrangements have been made to open The Sailing Club bar this year, though as far as I am aware the tea ladies will be doing their usual stint at about 3pm. Beer can be quaffed in The Moorings as Martin has suggested (and personally tested ).

At 1430-1530 the tide will be in full ebb, with a goodly SW flow.

We looked at 6 different forecast sites and they were all different so we decided that we would stick our noses out and see what it was like.

Hmm. Well that is a little stronger wind than predicted elsewhere but that would definitely favour an "after" arrival as opposed to getting up stupidly early for a "before". I reckon it will take around five hours, probably a bit less but then again I will probably stop at Jersey unless I brave taking on fuel at Braye?

Is anyone else confirmed to be taking on fuel at Braye?

We'll be getting fuel at Braye (Alderney) for the Searider, and then Guernsey or Jersey for Blue Ray.

I'm 95% sure all the 585's will be filling at Braye as well as I think they have 90 Litre tanks.

We've never had any problems with fuel from Braye - unless that is you forget to refuel at high tide and there's no water left in the harbour when you do remember!
