Alderney Aug 23rd-26th

Short notice, apologies. Been staring at the weather forecast for weeks and this looks like the first (slightly wobbly) window for a Channel Crossing this Summer

Plan is to leave Plymouth at about 3.30pm on Monday, happy to RV at Salcombe and/or Channel Light Vessel to continue the crossing arriving early evening

Return is weather dependant, but at the moment Thursday looks good

Likely stop via Guernsey for bulk fuel before the return crossing

Travel restrictions allow only those with 2x COVID19 vaccinations +14 days to avoid quarantine, an online form and £25 needs to paid before departure to confirm this and then receive self-test LFT kits on arrival

For those who have not done a Channel Crossing before this could be a good trip, though the weather is not looking like the photo of Avocet above! Alderney is a really special place, laid back pace of life and lots of nature/history to enjoy. There is a camp site and plenty of hotel/B&Bs

I wasn't there, but believe that was taken on a Channel Crossing of great rarity!

It was my photo from when we went along the Normandy coast on our way to Paris via the Seine. Search for thread on here ’Road to Rouen’

We've often had some great Cruises on High pressure days at all times of the year....regardless of season even in deep winter.
As time goes on the shorter daylight hours are the real obstacle...and early starts are a must.
September and October are often stunning.. so don't give up!....keep an eye out for weather windows and when it's right for you ...go for it
You're a long time dead!

You are very right, winter boating can be amazing on those crisp still days. I hope we get some!
