T200 fireworks

Possibly the best fireworks display I have ever seen, and I was all the way over on the IOW!!! It must have been something else if any of you saw it from Pompy.

A few pics are attached.

The really bright one is the grand finale

Magnificent photos, Tim. Nobody, but nobody, does pomp and circumstance quite like the Brits

How the organisational skills and brilliance of those people responsible for a pageant of such magnitude and splendour contrast with the abject mediocrity of the scum that are our politicians It's enough to make you weep.

Thanks Phil, it certainly was spectacular!

I'll be doing some prints soon if anyone is interested.

Mine were taken from a rib. Just a different perspective!

I agree. It's akin to an oil painting and the colours are stunning - you really ought to get that published somewhere

No problem, I've got copyright . I did play around with it a bit as taking the pic from a "bobbing" rib does tend to exagerate movement so I thought I'd enhance it so it did, as has been said, resemble and oil painting. I actually got several more along the same lines. Even my wife wants to use one for her desktop.

Applause to everyone who contributed to making a great day. The pictures capture only a tiny part of it. Shame about the weather but hey ho.

If the organising commitee for the Olympics were watching, we should get a few extra marks!

Best bit of the day: the fireworks
Worst bit of the day: the weather
Head slap moment of the day: Somehow managed to lose my shoes?
Nugget award: The Wally boat who ran aground "in the entrance to Chichester harbour" and was actually found aground at Langstone!!
Best "dont normally see that" bit: Looking behind me to the torch light procession of a thousand boats going home.

Reccomendations: Dont let BBC do a traffic report during the finale?? and play the music.

Tim'mers.

one high spot for me.

Radio conversation between a French and British warship.

0900 ‘French ship ‘so and so’ This is HMS ‘such and such’ we are schedules to practice a gun solute with you, please respond over.

1100 ’French ship ‘so and so’ This is HMS ‘such and such’ we are schedules to practice a gun solute with you, please respond, over.

1101 ‘This is French ship ‘such and such’ (in a questioning Gallic voice) but we do not have a gun’

Made me laugh, and what was even more funny was that trying to decide whether they had spent two hour looking for a gun or whether they had been asleep Des

Thanks for the photos (any more?) our view along with about 5000 others was not so good with the mist & smoke etc. We did not get out of London till 18.30 so did not bother trying to get down to the sea front. We went for the high up view over Portsmouth from Ports Down. Still got to see some fireworks but it looked lot better close up from the news and pictures.
