Minolta DG-5W new waterproof digicam

Last week Minolta announced the DG-5W , a 4 megas pixels waterproof and dustproof digital camera with a zoom équivalent to 28-78

Will be available in Japan in March. Hope it will reach Europe soon.

I guess this could be useful on a rib.
A couple of points though:
-that price works out at over £400
-waterproof to 1.5meters-doesnt sound like it's for divers then
-it may be waterproof/resistant, but how about bash proof?

..........or, Louise, have I been reading it all wrong again?

Indeed it is not intended for divers. For more info about the JIS international specification, go again to the link above and click on "what is this"
