Cornwall - Pentewan Sands

In June we had a week in Pentewan Sand. We had booked for 2020 but due to covid we had to delay a year. It was our last chance to visit during term time before our 4 year old started school.

Launching was reasonable easy using our home made launching trolley, but the soft sand would prove difficult for small transom wheels.

The site does have a launch and recovery service (Chargable), additionally Cornwall Watersports also have a quad and charge only £5 each way for an assisted launch (our trolley is fitted with a towbar).

We managed to launch each time without assitance, but opted to pay Cornwall Watersports once, recovered ourselves once, and had the assistance from drinker at the Hubbox once. (it is one of those places where people are about all the time so you just have to be cheaky and ask for help if you need it)

Was also nice to see some fellow Sibber's later in the week.

Nice pictures. We used to go here on holiday 30 years ago, we just had a zodicc with a 4hp 2 stroke, so it could be dragged across the soft sand.

What did you catch?

We ended up there in September nearly by accident. Some friends were staying on the site & we called in for a night to meet up with them, we ended up staying 5 nights, great place. On paper it’s the kind of place we’d normally avoid like the plague. Club/pool/bars/“family friendly”etc. We were pleasantly surprised, good launching for a small boat, although it was a drag up the soft sand when recovering at low water. But there are plenty of people willing to lend a hand. We loved the Hubbox, sitting there on an evening with a beer watching the sun go down was a treat. Some nice boating areas, plenty of Bass around, all for £23/night including EHU. We’ll definitely be back.
