Copeland Island

Went over to the big island from Bangor tonight, nice wee run, was going to go for Church Bay but the tide was running strong in the sound and creating a bit of a swell so went for this one looking toward orlock point instead, nice steep beach so could motor right in.

Had the whole beach to myself too!

Weather last few nights has been perfect!

Tried again tonight, but a fresh south easterly breeze was kicking up a fair swell again once I rounded Ballymacormick Point, so played in the shelter of ballyholme bay for a while.

Would have been better taking the laser out!

twenty years ago myself and a couple of mates did a night paddle round copelands. we set of in three kayaks from donagadee and rounded both islands before heading back. i seem to remember some good overfalls between the islands. also rafting up in the dark as the belfast ferry went past, very errie. nice trip and interesting islands.
