I'd never leave motor on the transom unsupported. Transom saver is the must thing here......I don't think there is a great chance of damaging your back, as the transom will be damaged way sooner...

You have to drill a hole for the fuel line and that hole has to be big ahough to accept the primer bulb....one...

My old QS 430 boat had similar "MILITARY transom reinforcement" to hold 15hp 2 stroke. It was working ok on a ROTTEN transom...I rebuid the transom and did not reqire the "special MILITARY grade"...
