Zar formenti skydeck 73 - any thoughts?

Hi folks

I'm looking at buying my first rib since having kids and the rules haven't half changed.

The boss has specified there must be somewhere to hide the kids (cuddy), must be a toilet (no buckets here) and ideally big bench seating.

To that end I've arrived at the Zar Formenti 73 skydeck as it ticks the boxes but I can still rag it about.

Has anyone got any experience in this area as Italian ribs are new to me?

Cheers

Is she planning to put the kids in the cuddy whilst underway?

No it's more of a place to let them rest in the shade from sun / wind than anything.

I wouldn't put them down there whilst underway at any speed unless I wanted them scrambled :-)

I think you might want to give more thought to the model of boss boss rather than the model of RIB....

I suspect that would be more expensive than buying a Zar new

Looks like you are in Wales? You will probably be the first person in Wales to buy a boat for its sun shade! Is your other half going to actually use a chemical toilet in such a tiny space. Over the last dozen years on here I can recall a good handful of people who fitted chemical loos in a cuddy, but very few routinely used them: Nobody likes a chemical toilet; as you realise a cuddy is only for use at a sheltered anchorage/mooring; some poor bugger has to empty the toilet.

In terms of overall comfort from a day on the water in the UK the hull and seat layout may be more important. I can see the appeal of the Zar if your idea of a nice day out is to buzz round to a nearby bay, play with some water toys, anchor up and sun bathe, and maybe rustle up lunch on a bbq... that might be the ideal we sell to our other halves but how often is that the reality?

You could probably buy an old cheap hard cruiser something like a sealine s24 for what you would save buying a rib kitted out to suit your wife rather than you. You could then buy yourself a proper mans rib without all the extra stuff to weigh it down and never get used.
Cuddys tend to just get used for stuffing junk in and weighing down the boat.
Give it a few short years and the kids will probably prefer the wind in the hair excitement of the rib anyway then you can probably flog the cruiser for close on what you paid and you then have the rib you want not what the "boss" wants

That's sort of the point. They can use it, if they REALLY want to. Generally, I find that the mere Possibility of a Pee precludes the Necessity.
