Viking Hatch

Does anyone know a reasonably priced supplier of 'Viking' or similar hatches?

I need a rectangular hatch with a removable rather than hinged 'door', 'cos of space limitations.

The one from Viking would be the 2 handle version: 419mm x 311mm overall.

I've seen them on Marinemegastore & Bainbridgemarine websites (see links below). £43.92 seems a lot for a small hatch, so I wondered whether anyone knows of a cheaper supplier.

It's a quality hatch, for cheaper I think you'll have to go nastier.

And whatever you do don't stand on those - they aren't up to the job - don't ask how I know!

Thought that was a post by JSP for a moment

I should have mentioned - it needs to be black.

I'm a skinflint (Cardi)

Cookee....mine got trodden on and broken too! Cue jokes about being a fat b******d.

.....I wasn't about to spend that sort of cash for as equally weak a replacement, so stuck the broken plate back together using a carefully cut out piece of chequered aluminium plate atop....works perfectly and strong enough to stand on if you forget when hauling anchor etc....doesn't look bad either.

Although, now i think about it, the biggest Phaff was cutting around where the two plastic locking handles go...

If i do ever replace it, I would probably stick a chequer plate cover over from day one anyway!

D.

Am now sitting in Windy West Wales bored.....Having just had to cancel a survey charter in North Wales (estuary work only) due to weather and floods....Dyfi bridge closed, flooding at Glandyfi, Landslip at Ynys Mawddwy....diversion via Newtown (100miles). Looks like Spam for Christmas Dinner!

Ok, another option is the Bomar Hatch 11.5" x 8.5" (clear opening size).
Again, the cheapest I can find is £47 at Mailspeed Marine, but a guy on the boat jumble circuit usually knocks them out for around £20-£25. Anyone know of a low cost supplier of these?
