Tilt mechanism on Nissan 30 hp motor busted

Hi,

I am looking at buying a 2002 Nissan 30hp. The seller says the tilt on the motor has smething wrong with it. Any ideas on what this would cost to repair assuming the worst?

Any insights to this age Nissan?

Thanks,

Depends on what it is, but a manual tilt bracket is mostly bent stainless steel bar and rod. Might be tempered a bit fo strength, but in any case it shouldn't be too hard to fab up a replacement.

That is worst case should you be unable to find replacements.

it's an electric tilt-I should have mentioned that

It is an electric tilt on remote, sorry I didn't mention that. I know cables can be replaced but am wondering what other things may be lurking worst case.

The switches (up and down) drive relays that switch power to the pump motor. Polarity determines direction of travel. To T/S, figure out what is not happening: Switch not working, signal not getting to relays, relays not working, pump not working, oil gone, or rams leaking.

The service manual should have detailed info on tear-down and rebuild.
