Also .. for your peace of mind ask how long the tubes stay up .. mine were shite and went down after a couple of days .. fookin useless if you want to moor it at sea and leave it a couple of days without checking it

Thanks for the replies. The "aft" of the "Northcraft" lettering was all that I was left on the tubes so I put 2 + 2 together and came up with Ribcraft.

...... "underpowered", is all relative.

My old SR4 had a 25 on the back. I bet there's nobody here would say it was big enough, but it could hold a steady 21 knots, the speed that anyone I cruised with would normally cruise at. Yeah, 'twas a tad lethargic out the hole, but once on the plane was fine 2 up.

If you want eye watering speed & "crew over the transom" acceleration, you'll want more horses, but for cruising / general use a 90 on a 5.5 should be fine.

Northcraft 5.5 will be ok with a 90, but 7k is too much for that boat. I sold a nicer one last year for a lot less.
