Keithy,
Many, many thanks for the stickers that arrived today - now I just have to find a car to stick them on - or alternatives.

Batfalcon - ask Keith for stickers!!!

Send off activities are heating up - start dusting off your party hats!!

Re the cruise out on Saturday - someone mentioned we could go and meet the POB as she comes over the Bristol Channel - that is definately one idea. Will need to talk about closer to the time.

Will have to be back on dry land for 12:00 though - to be at the Blessing of the boat and crew.

Could always go for a quick spin up the River Taff and see the Millenium Stadium from the water - do that in the early afternoon, before we go in the pub!!!

Several options for anyone that is interested.

Is the run up the Taff dependant upon Tide?

No, there is no tide! It's all inside the Cardiff Bay Barrage so the tide doesn't go out any more.

Yup, JK is right.
The Rivers Taff and Ely are within the perimetres of the Bay and inside the Barrage, thus unlimited access.

The River taff is the one that goes right through the City centre and past the Satdium.

The river Ely is a bit more landscapes, not too may houses alongside it, yet, and quite scenic. Much wildlife - like rabbits, foxes, herons. You also see the camp of our undergroung Cardiff resident - he may be out looking for wood to burn, or shooting rabbits. Very quiet guy and may occassionally wave. Harmless, as long as he is left alone. I reckon he just had enough of the of life as we usually know it (could not buy a rib) and became a hermit type guy.

Hey, it takes all sorts.

Both rivers usually have a normal water flow on them, about 20-40cumetes.

Should there be some heavy rain beforehand - and this could be likely - river flow can speed up to quite a bit - about 150 cumetes upwards.
Will keep a river check in the week before the send -off.

You can safely navigate about 2 miles up both rivers - approx. Then a weir on the Taff and rubbish and v. low water in the Ely become a problem.

All was quiet - before the storm.

The Buy A Mile scheme is being launched to the whole of South Wales public tomorrow in the newspaper - rather than just the local lot and confirmed supporters - so you better be quick and buy some miles before they are all gone.

www.spirit-of-cardiff.com

4 weeks and a few days to go....&^*%......
Its the final countdown soon.

SOC Wave off

This thread was dropping down a little - so thought I would bring it back up to the top to keep the interest going.

A friend of mine is hoping to bring his RIB along on Saturday - I have asked him to contact Nadia to let her know when his plans are more certain.

Not long to go now - once we get our London Cruise out of the way we'll definately be counting down to Cardiff !!!

It has gone a bit quite because we have been dealing with a BIG Problem but our motto is "Driven by the Challenge" which is certainly living up to it's name! No doubt Nadia who is doing a sterling job will be back on line soon. In the meantime, onwards and upwards and B~~~~~~ks to anyone who gets in our way.On the 31st of March we ARE leaving to go around the world

Just tell whoever your problem is that there will be a large number of Ribbers making a lot of noise on March 31, so you will HAVE to go!

Dream on....a lot of whatever!

I know there will be a lot of ribsters in Cardiff Bay for the SOC send off.

I know there will be a lot of drink drunk.

I know there will be a lot of bacon rolls eaten.

I know there will be a lot of laughing and crying!

But then again...what do I know?
