The only people who can answer that are Ribcraft. As previously stated, they're a bespoke builder so will make you anything you want within reason. Every Ribcraft is built to order, they don't build boats for stock, hence no prices on their website. You have to speak to them.

Explain to me why this is such an amazing layout?

If I'm on the "back seats" - what do I hold onto when I hit a wave?

Do you not see the front seat handle?

It is a ribcraft, you don't hit waves, they part for you.

Is that because they thrive in wet conditions and are virtually impossible to stop once they get going?

Seems logical and accurate to me!

Never had active trim but if it was expensive I wouldn't bother with it, I probably trim my boat when I leave the marina and don't touch it again 90% of the time. Even in rough weather it is trim it and control the throttle, it seems a bit gimmicky to me on paper for normal use, gimmicks are cool with me if they are decent value ofcourse.

True so true ......... I will tell you the final story once the order is placed, but, to be honest, its looking pretty good at the moment.

The bottom line is /was ..... no merc, no deal............

What’s Max hp on the 585? If you can get to 175hp, possibly go for the bigger displacement 3.4L V6 175hp that’s just out, almost same weight as the 3.0L 4cyl 150hp [emoji848]

Edit - Heh ho - max hp 150

IIRMC I think PD had a 175 on his. I’m sure he’ll be along in a mom to correct me. I have never regretted putting the Merc 150 on mine it’s a dream team [emoji106]

True. If it's a new build they will build it to take whatever you want within reason. There's that bespoke thing again[emoji57]. My 585 tonked along quite nicely with a 175 FICHT. Good for around 50kn[emoji12].
OP, whatever you do, DO NOT be talked into fitting a DF140, it will be pants on that hull. If it has to be a Suzuki, put the 150 on as a minimum.

What’s the major advantage / disadvantage of the Merc versus the Suzuki? 150/150 and Merc 175/150? Are they are about here or there fuel wise?

Well the new 150 is a stand-alone 4s 3.0 4cyl. The just released 175/200/225 are a 3.4L V6 4S and are pretty much the same weight. If the transom would take it, a bigger displacement 175 may be better if going 4S, based on PDs experience of power.

The 150 Merc is plenty, don't worry about it.

The Suzuki 140 is a known "weak" engine as it is a tuned up smaller hp engine, the Merc 150 will piss all over it.

The new engines mentioned above are not 150hp, they are v6 175hp upwards, I wouldn't bother with it for a 585. The mercury 150 is not "new", been out few years or so now and is perfect for a 585 and maxes the normal HP rating out.
