Two British kite surfers have become the first men to succeed in successfully kite surfing across the English Channel. The two intrepid kiters Wayne “Worsil” and Tom “Tiny tops” battled with extreme conditions to complete the epic journey.
The pair were supported by two rib boats. The intrepid kite boarders raised cash for Demelsea, a children’s charity institution as well as cracking the World Record.
Tom and Wayne had to battle against huge swells when they started the attempt. Gusty wind conditions also made the attempt a little harder for the adventurers. Amazingly the two managed to push forward on to the French coast even though conditions were so extreme that one rib capsized.
Instead of deterring them the decision was made that they had to complete the expedition.
Two hours and 30 minutes after setting off from Blighty, the two kite surfers made it to the Boulogne, France. The exhausted pair were delighted to have made it in one piece and despite the conditions everyone had made the trip successfully.
Congratulations to both Tom and Wayne, you guys deserve a rest and your spot in the Guinness Book of Records.
