Why not post a photo of the 'repair', rather than some lighthouse in Norway?

Considering you bought the boat secondhand, sight unseen and then exported it to Norway I think your expectations of Ribcraft are a little high

As you now state you are designing your own boat for build in the UK by another RIB manufacturer starting with an 'R', might I be so bold as to suggest that you try and find a Norwegian builder who has after sales service commensurate with your expectations?

I dont understand ? .. If it was me, and I had bought a boat blind, and discovered this nasty little problem, and the original manufacturer offered to repair it for free (not just a yard or a mate who was handy with glass fibre) I'd have bitten their hand off .. sure there would be transport costs to get it there, but I'd have driven it there personally, just to have the satisfaction that the repair would have been effected by the one person who would know best how to fix it, the original manufacturer ?.

The manufacturer 'R' should be very wary of dealing with this individual. Blackmail is very dangerous game, especially when it has commercial implications.

I would guess Revenger - a great British company - their boats are very well respected in places like Norway - used a lot for sea safari work - high speed in very rough seas.

On the grounds that there are three sides to every story, it would appear that Ribcraft maybe closer to the truth than anything else.

Facts appear to be.

Boat bought privatly without survey or physical inspection by the purchaser

Exported privatly (or using a company appointed by the purchaser maybe) but no involvement by the original manufacturer.

Problem occures and the new owner askes for advise / assistance from the original manufacturer which was duly offered.

Advise / offer of assistance was apparently declined by the new owner who made the decision to use a local party to repar the boat to the standard they feel required.

retrospective attempts appear to have been made by a disgruntaled owner to recover his costs from a manufacturer who was not involved in any other way than producting the boat originally for someone else!!!

Fair Play Ribcraft! having done a quick search here i cant see many / if any serious problems reported with transoms on ribcraft build boats. having had some indirect dealings with them they have been very helpful in the past.

all i can say to the original poster.... Caveat emptor!!

Jason can I come and work for you? You must pay your guys really well

Quaoar - surely it would have cost way less than 3000 to bring the boat to England?

RIBase
AS a Ribcraft owner of some years I can only call it as it happens to me and my requests of them. I have never been let down by Ribcraft wheather it is sales, spares or advice and have always found more than happy to discuss things at length to ensure that the correct solutions are acjived that keeps me boating. I thought Jason's were more than fair considering the whole senario.
