Tryed to remove bottom o ring and it snaped and my o ring set dont have that size in it bet ill have to buy the whole valve.ill try a hydrolics place tomorrow

If it's a Mercury i.e.American, I'm guessing that the "O" rings will be imperial.

Yeah thats what i thought but theres metric bolts on the engine

I'd be guessing that's your problem. Local motor factors should have an o ring to fit

Is it one of the rebadged Yamaha motors? If so, I'd think the O-rings would be metric along with the hardware.

Shouldn't be too hard to find suitable replacements though: Put a caliper on the groove to get the ID, and then on the O-ring itself (or what's left of it) to get the thickness of the material. From there, you should be able to match up with O-ring specs online. You'll have to do a bit of guesswork on the missing one, but you're just isolating reservoirs of hydraulic fluid, so it's not all that critical.

So ive now fitted the 3 new o rings and i dont no how successful its been the ram will now lift the motor with me stood on it but creeps back down so im not sure if the thrust of the engine is less than my weight if u know what i mean if it is all ahould be ok.ill water test this weekend and see what happens

Shouldn't creep back down, not in a short time anyway. Summats still not right. Have you tightened up the manual release fully? I'd also be wondering where that missing "O" ring is, it could be stuck on a seat causing a poor seal.

Yeah thats what i thought but it did have 18 stone of brother standing on the outboard had a look in the hole where the manual release valve gos and couldent see anything in there.if u lift the engine with no one standing on it it will stay there all week
