Ok, and did he say whether it was 5.4 Searider?
I still think it would go well with a 115Hp, but I am sure soemobody else on here had one with a 115HP Yamaha?
Inspires alot of confidence if two aspects of the advert are incorrect! the most important bits, i.e the length of the boat and the engine size! Why is it so cheap?

115hp

The builders plate on the inside of my 5.4m Searider states 115hp max.

I wonder if they reduced the max ratings since yours was built, or if it's simply a discrepancy beween the spec sheet and the builder plate.

Seem to remember Searider saying he could get 39kts roughly out of his 5.4 with a 90 (plus some sort of fancy prop).

How much faster will a 114 actually be? Guessing it should break 40kts.

Looks like it could make someone a nice boat for the money.

here is the email that he sent me. Including phone number.

Couple of changes to ad, the boats about 5.4 mtrs long and its a 115 not
125 engine.

Speed - I would guess about mid thirty knots flat out - its very quick, too
quick for my wife and kids on the sea hence why im selling.

Wots up with it then? cos my 90 pulls 34 on a flat day with a standard ally prop!

Well seeing as he was unsure about the engine size and the length of the boat, I was never expecting his speed to be accurate.
What worries me is if you own a rib 9/10 it is one of your hobbies, therefore it interests you and you know alot about it. Your rib is not usually treated like an appliance, say a dishwasher! I am sure we all know our ribs inside out, the make of the console, engine, seats, instruments etc. I would therefore only buy a secondhand rib from an enthusisast because you know it has probably been looked after. From what I have read about this rib -I havent contacted him but I have read the email to Eddo and the advert, and this guy seems to know very little about it. Big difference between a 4.6m and a 5.4 and a 115HP and a 125HP. And the speed, mid thirty knots, nice and specific then. Now obviously, there could be a logical reason for the incorrect advert -maybe somebody else listed it on his behalf, but from what I have read I wouldn't touch that boat with Mirabella mast!

Rant over!

39.7

Mine makes 39.7 with a Laser II prop. It made almost that speed when the aluminium prop was new. However, the engine is now 20mm lower than ideal and I reckon it could go a bit faster if raised.
If I were keeping the boat this is something I would look at this season but now busy trying to get the Scorpion at its best

I think that the rating has been reduced from 115hp to 90hp - when my boat was built I think that the horses were a little smaller!
