Osprey news update

Hello to all those Osprey fans! I thought it would be a good idea to let you know of the forthcoming boat test in Sports Boat & Rib magazine. With a bit of luck this will be in the May edition which comes out very early April. The test was done in February on our demonstrator which is a 7.0 Vipermax with a 250h.p. high output Evinrude E-tec. (See pictures) It wasn't a very sunny day but other than that conditions were good and I was able to demonstrate the boat well. The indications are that Alex Smith (Sports Boat's Editor) was impressed but in truth I have not seen anything that he is going to write about the boat so I am therefore obviously hoping that it's a very positive report! I'm going to take the boat on the Isle of Man trip (6th/7th June) and also probably take it down to the South Coast during the Ribex weekend. I don't think we will enter the show because it has not previously sold any boats for us.

Every year for the last 8 years I have managed to get over to Ireland, always stopping at Malahide. The last 2 years we have coincided this to be on the same weekend as the Skerries motorcycle race, which particularly for the uninitiated is an awesome sight - these lads quite honestly have completely lost the plot! If anyone else plans to do a similar trip please let me know and perhaps we could all meet up.

Finally due to the recession we could all do with a bit of cheering up, so if anybody is interested in a new boat there's no time like the present! Also a friend of mine is selling an Eagle (5.6m) with a 115 Evinrude E-tec. The whole outfit is 2.5 years old and is immaculate. If anybody is interested give me a call and I'll put you in touch direct.

In the meantime many thanks for all the positive interest in our wonderful boats. Hope the summer proves to be as good as expected and everybody has great boating throughout the year.

Very nice, seems red is this years colour scheme after decades of blue and grey

Oh dear, does that mean my 1 year old grey one is out of date already!

The website is an improvement, but it is still lacking something in my opinion. Perhaps some more detailed photos (higher resolution), and some close-ups of the different features. I'm sure some of us owners would be happy to provide some shots of what we think makes them stand out from the crowd.

Yeah, I know a guy that almost had to rebuild his garage due to those inaccurate figures.

You'll be alright - these colours have a cyclical habit of coming back into fashion every 8-9 years.

You won't regret it - have you any idea how much bright colours will fade? They need to be well sealed to stop them oxidising.

Thanks for this - constructive criticism is always welcome. I've mentioned before that we don't spend hugh amounts on advertising or paying for a really flash website as these costs have to be passed on to the customer. The website is better (I know, could it have been worse!) and it's easier to add to/edit so yes, we'd be happy to receive pictures which we could include.

Higher resolution pictures can be slow to load but we'll have a look and see what we can do.

Well in comparison to what you had, it's miles better and showcases the Osprey range quite well.

I'm looking forward to reading the Mag in April.
