Just a extra note on kit to carry. I now carry an EPRIB whether out on the RIB or kayaking. The Mcmurdo 406Mhz fastfind unit is about the size of a chunky mobile phone, has GPS facility and can be had for under £500.

Must say that i think this makes sense, Given that in RIB the most likely and serious incident where you will need major assistance will be when you are out of the boat due to a capsize or fire. therfore no main radio at best a 5watt portable with limited range and possibly flares, and that is assuming you are in a fit state to operate them. At circa 500.00 ish an Eprib costs no more than one set of decent wet weather gear or 4 good lifejackets. In the event of a capsize you wouldnt have time to use DSC so even that would not Guarantee you could get help but again could cost 500.00 or more. Can anyone give me an argument for not getting one.......(apart from the 500 good ones that is)

How about slow response time from the CG? I understand that it will be several hours before they are alerted to an EPIRB signal. I reckon that these devices are OK (in fact essential) for ocean cruising, but for coastal use, think about more conventional devices. You need to reduce your time in the water in a survival situation. Never mind "decent wet weather gear" you need a dry suit if there's a chance of ending up in the water. Also remember that it gadgets that got Daniel into this situation in the first place:

If you are in the drink alone and without VHF or flares then forget it!

Despite the sensible and informative input on this forum the fact is that alone you are putting yourself at risk -in particular circumstances not much of what you carry will be of use -but then again if you can't take a joke you should'n't join!

Yep we got some left over and a bit, I was thinking of going out for a celebration boat experience after the match, it's good being Welsh cos you never lose. I mean take that match against New Zealand difficult to come away from that as a Welshman and being disapointed and it's not as if we haven't beaten england before, is it. R U coming down then

What are your plans assuming anyone is still sober after the Rugby?
