That'll drop your top speed abit and it doesn't match the colourof the tubes - luckily I have a neat little cabin to kip in ! ( but it still bloody rains everytime & the forecast is not the same as previous years !)

Seems like I can reckon on being hit at least twice if I go & possibly suffering some damage worth speaking to insurers about - the appeal is getting less & less very quickly !

If a few of you (I'll be watching from the bank probably) agree to meet up in advance you could tie up together and hog the best space... safety in numbers as well

Popped by the site this evening (there's a nice pub next door) and took a picture of the river at lowish tide for your reference.

I don't think it was quite low tide, but you get the idea.

Slightly off topic but can anyone tell me where we can drop off a group in East Cowes. They're staying in Ryde for the weekend and need to get the bus from EC. is there a suitable public landing place anywhere close?

Thanks

landing at East Cowes

Between the car ferry and the chain ferry there is a landing known locally as the Grid Iron where you can drop people off. It is off the Red Funnel Car Park

Thanks. Just got back from Cowes and managed to find the gridiron (I think!) and dropped them off with some help from a very kind lady crewing a water taxi where we rafted briefly.

Overall, all went well, despite the force 6 crossing until...... the return run when we (I) marginally misjudged the wake from a tug and managed a very serious stuffing resulting in a boat full of water. Entirely my fault and it took deployment of the trunks to shift the water. Boat now minus the v tronix vhf arial! Lessons learnt! Ho hum.
