How will this perform?

We were in Windermere yesterday and l saw a nice looking RIB for sale at the boat shop near the tour boat moorings.

It was a Wetline 4m boat with console and steering wheel, ready to go, on a trailer and looked new. The engine was a 15hp and l was thinking this might be a bit too small for this boat. How will it perform with a 15hp?

Yes i would think it is maybe underpowered. I have a 310 without a console just simple and light it goes well, but with the added weight of a console and a bit bigger of a boat may change things. I also have a 4.2 and it has a 40hp on it. If you have a look at the max horsepower rating on the boat that may give you a better idea!

RIBase
It probably won't plane with more than one aboard.

It might - I get 3.9m + console + 3 adults + 2 anchors and assorted other crap on the plane easily with a 20HP. You would probably need to select props, trim angles carefully - but its not going to be exciting with that engine. In many ways it is probably ideal for Windermere and a 10 mph speed limit.
