Got to ride on the bridges of all the RJ a couple of years ago doing AIS trials.

Pretty amazing and the helsmen (women) are like airline pilots!

Red Jet 3 is a pile of crap. 1 and 2 are off to the Caspian Sea now!
Red Jet 4 surrers from regular gearbox failures but is far smoother and faster, quieter and more comfortable than the others - sadly that is the one not made in the UK!

seeing as your from cowes im sure you have more experience than me on redjet!! but the new one goes over the top of things in my opinion, slams a bit and is so wide it seems to pickup different waves, the older ones feel sharper and cut through stuff better! however 3 is more tatty and leaks if ya sit near door! lol!

anyone know the speed of em???

RJ4 topped 41Kts.
As for the ride, 3 like 1 and 2 cant handle the rough stuff - they pitch very heavily and the extra length of 4 means a smoother ride.
also, for the rag and stick brigade (not for ribbers!) the wash from 3 is 3x that of 4 - 4 has a good hull design. and finally, for those who live near the sea in cowes 4 is almost silent - the old ones are very noisy!
