I clocked some rather handy hanks of 12mm in high quality black multi pait rope in a £10 per hank box. Took them to the till where the cashier sold them to me for £10 for the pair. I've just measured them to see that they are both 13 meters long.....26 meters for a 10er. What a result!
Andy, just a precautionary note,
There was a lot of seemingly good quality rope at the twice yearly boat jumble we get up here. I bought 40mtrs of rope with very similar dimensions to your new buy and cut it up for mooring lines. It was a mistake, the rope had almost a laughable resistence to abrasion.
We nearly lost the rib when a fairly blunt part of a peir cut through one rope in a matter of 30min. We returned after some sherberts to find the boat only secured by one line (by luck it was blowing offshore) . I'm now a firm believer in the "you get what you pay for with ropes" I'm not saying you have what I bought..but mine looked good to me at the time..
now I'll use it for towing just not mooring.
