I would only like to add one more comment on this thread - one of my other interests is motorbikes - currently I have a Ducati 916 and a Vespa scooter. If I was to take one racing at the TT I am inclined to understand which bike is fit for the purpose (arguably the scooter is probably safer - but not on a racing line on dodgy corners).
You have a very nice rib and engine - but with respect - the vessel you now have was designed for a purpose. I doubt the manufacturer or anyone in the RNLI would necessarily agree that it is particularly suitable for offshore / long distance, particularly at this time of year.
You can probably sail around the world in a paper bag - but it is not recommended.
