I would only like to add one more comment on this thread - one of my other interests is motorbikes - currently I have a Ducati 916 and a Vespa scooter. If I was to take one racing at the TT I am inclined to understand which bike is fit for the purpose (arguably the scooter is probably safer - but not on a racing line on dodgy corners).

You have a very nice rib and engine - but with respect - the vessel you now have was designed for a purpose. I doubt the manufacturer or anyone in the RNLI would necessarily agree that it is particularly suitable for offshore / long distance, particularly at this time of year.

You can probably sail around the world in a paper bag - but it is not recommended.

I had a 3.8 Honwave with a 20 on the back. I took that from Falmouth to Fowey in July 2010 on a flat calm day and it felt vulnerable crossing the open bays.
I have read most of the last seven pages and it appears he is set in doing this whatever and has a distinct lack of humour.
Yes he will have neap tides and yes there are a couple of days next week that MIGHT be more settled. There are numerous areas of tide races and a good Atlantic ground swell running all next week.
If he needs recusing he should pay simple.
